For several weeks, there were reports that Real Madrid are showing interest towards Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and now Fabrizio Romano has made it official.

The transfer expert has said that the likes of Perez and co are very fond of the full-back which is a clear indication that Liverpool will need to brace themselves for a major summer bid for TAA.

He’s easily one of the top-rated full-backs in European football right now but Liverpool are going to sweat a lot because Real Madrid’s interest in him has come at a time when Trent is just about to enter the final year of his contract and there are still no major advancements in talks of a new deal.

This season, Trent Alexander-Arnold has seen a slight dip in form but he’s still only 25 years old and the talent he has, can make him the ideal Real Madrid player.

Ancelotti currently has two ageing right-backs in the form of Lucas Vazquez and Dani Carvajal both of whom are 32 so the Real Madrid manager will need to bring in a long-term replacement very soon. And with Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract set to expire in 2025, Madrid feel Liverpool will let him leave on a bargain deal.

TAA is currently valued at €70 million but with just over a year remaining in his contract, Liverpool cannot afford to quote a sensational price.

Apart from the price, another major reason why we think Real Madrid are expected to go all out for the England international is that this season, the 25-year-old has shown that he can play in central midfield as well and this versatility can come in very handy for Ancelotti.

Modric will leave this summer while Toni Kroos is expected to play one more season and even though the Los Blancos have great midfielders like Tchouameni and Camavinga, Trent Alexander-Arnold can double up as the perfect backup to these two guys.

Obviously, Madrid’s priority is to sign a quality right-back which is why they are after the England full-back but if they do sign the Liverpool man then they will be able to add depth in their midfield positions without spending an extra penny.

Liverpool do not need to hit the panic buttons just yet because Alexander-Arnold is a home-grown lad and he’s still very much loyal to the club but when a club like Real Madrid come calling, not many players have the ability to turn it down, for several reasons.
