As fall approaches and preseason practice for Duke basketball gets closer, many autumn weekends are also vital for Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils in recruiting.
One of Duke’s top targets, 4-star Asa Montgomery, has scheduled his official visit to Durham for October 2nd, one of the eight official visits the Powder Springs, Ga., native will take this fall.
At 6-foot-7 and 215 pounds, Montgomery is ranked the No. 8 small forward and No. 28 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class, per 247Sports composite rankings.
Per his scouting report:
We saw Montgomery in two very different contexts this summer. In the EYCL, he was a volume scorer with the ultimate green light. Everything went through him and he put up a whopping 27.9 points on 54/34/76 shooting along with 10.2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3.3 stocks (1.4 steals and 1.9 blocks) per game. With USA Basketball though, he bought into being a role playing four. He provided energy, offensive rebounding, cutting, defensive versatility, and playmaking within their full-court pressure, even though he was surprisingly reluctant to shoot at times.
Montgomery is also set to visit LSU, Florida, UConn, Providence, North Carolina, Arizona and Louisville.
