“Our style of play demands and highlights creators at the five,” Pope explained. “Amari Williams was one of the highest-usage fives and one of the highest assist-percentage fives in the game. Last season, Brandon Garrison and Malachi were both excellent in those areas, and Malachi was only a freshman. We expect him to make a massive jump forward.”

“Malachi has a chance to really give us something we haven’t had in our first two years,” Pope said. “He can be a heavy-usage, mid-post creator with his back to the basket. It’s a role where I’ve had great success coaching in the past, and I think he has a chance to really grow in that space.”
