As summer workouts pause for a well-earned holiday break, Kentucky basketball players are trading the hardwood for lakes, backyard barbecues, and quality time with loved ones. After spending the last several weeks building chemistry and preparing for the upcoming season, the Wildcats are making the most of the Fourth of July by embracing the simple traditions that make Independence Day so special.
For Kentucky fans, it’s a refreshing glimpse into the personalities behind the jerseys. While the focus has been on intense offseason workouts and preparing for what promises to be an exciting season, the holiday provides an opportunity for players to recharge both physically and mentally before returning to Lexington.
One of Kentucky’s newest stars, Milan Momcilovic, couldn’t wait to return home to Wisconsin. The sharpshooting forward is spending the long weekend relaxing on Pewaukee Lake, enjoying a break from basketball before diving back into summer training.
With three days away from campus, Momcilovic plans to make every moment count. Like many Wisconsin natives, he already knows exactly what belongs on the grill during a Fourth of July celebration.
His menu is as classic as it gets—burgers, brats, and plenty of famous Wisconsin cheese. He even joked that there might be “a drink or two” as part of the holiday festivities. More than anything, he’s looking forward to slowing down, spending time outdoors, and enjoying life with family and friends before returning to Kentucky refreshed and ready for the next phase of offseason workouts.
