LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky women’s basketball team has officially finalized its 2026-27 nonconference schedule, and the Wildcats will have plenty of opportunities to test themselves before Southeastern Conference play begins.
The schedule features a challenging mix of familiar opponents, NCAA Tournament-caliber programs and teams coming off successful seasons. Kentucky will face five teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last season, along with Marshall, the reigning WNIT champion.
The Wildcats will open the season at home on Monday, Nov. 2, when they welcome Morehead State to Historic Memorial Coliseum. It will mark the beginning of a 14-game nonconference slate designed to prepare Kentucky for another demanding SEC campaign.
Kentucky will remain at home for its next two games, hosting Northern Kentucky on Nov. 5 and Evansville on Nov. 11. The Wildcats will then face an early major test when they travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, to meet NC State at Spectrum Center on Nov. 8.
The NC State matchup could provide Kentucky with an important measuring stick early in the season. Facing a proven program away from home should give the Wildcats an opportunity to gain valuable experience before the schedule becomes even more demanding.
Kentucky will return to Lexington to face Eastern Michigan on Nov. 15 before welcoming Marshall to Historic Memorial Coliseum on Nov. 20.
The Marshall matchup carries an added storyline because the Thundering Herd are led by former Transylvania head coach Julie Fulks. Marshall also enters the season as the defending WNIT champion, making the contest one of the more intriguing games on Kentucky’s nonconference schedule.
The Wildcats will then head to Daytona Beach, Florida, for a Thanksgiving-weekend event at the Ocean Center. Kentucky will face Maine on Nov. 27 before taking on South Dakota State the following day.
December brings an even tougher stretch.
Kentucky will begin the month against Clemson at Rupp Arena on Dec. 3 before hosting Bellarmine three days later. Then comes one of the most anticipated games of the entire nonconference schedule when the Wildcats take on Louisville on Dec. 9.
The in-state rivalry will be played inside Rupp Arena, giving Kentucky another opportunity to compete in front of a large home crowd. Louisville reached the Sweet Sixteen last season, adding significant weight to an already important rivalry matchup.
Kentucky will then travel to Syracuse, New York, for a Dec. 13 contest against Le Moyne before facing another Sweet Sixteen participant, Virginia, on Dec. 20.
That matchup will take place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, providing the Wildcats with a neutral-site challenge and another opportunity to play outside Lexington.
Kentucky will close its nonconference schedule at home against Kent State on Dec. 28.
Overall, the schedule gives Kentucky a balanced combination of home games, road contests and neutral-site opportunities. More importantly, the Wildcats will have several chances to face teams capable of challenging them in different ways.
The five NCAA Tournament opponents should provide Kentucky with a strong early-season benchmark, while games against NC State, Louisville and Virginia could prove particularly valuable when postseason positioning becomes a priority later in the year.
The schedule also gives Kentucky several opportunities to build momentum. With SEC play looming after the new year, the Wildcats will have nearly two months to establish their identity, develop chemistry and determine how they respond to high-level competition.

With a demanding mix of tournament-tested opponents, rivalry games and neutral-site challenges, Kentucky’s nonconference schedule should provide the Wildcats with a meaningful test from the opening night through the end of December.
For Kentucky, the goal will be more than simply surviving the schedule. These 14 games will offer an opportunity to build confidence, sharpen the roster and establish the foundation needed for success once SEC competition begins.
