Kentucky basketball may have another major recruiting storyline developing, and this one could become increasingly important for Mark Pope and the Wildcats as the 2027 recruiting cycle continues to take shape.
Jordan Page, a versatile top-10 recruit, has emerged as one of the players Kentucky is watching closely. The Wildcats extended a scholarship offer to Page in May, and the interest appears to be mutual enough to keep Kentucky firmly in the conversation as the young prospect enters an important stage of his development.
With Page preparing for his senior season at IMG Academy, there is plenty of reason for Big Blue Nation to keep his name on the radar.
What makes the situation particularly intriguing is not simply Page’s ranking. It is the combination of his defensive ability, offensive versatility, passing, athleticism and experience playing against some of the best young players in the country.
And Kentucky head coach Mark Pope has already made his interest clear.
Kentucky Saw Something Special in Page
When Kentucky offered Page a scholarship, the offer came directly from Pope.
Pope personally visited Page at his former high school in North Carolina to deliver the offer, giving the recruitment an early personal connection that could become significant as the 2027 class develops.
Page explained in June that Kentucky liked the way he plays the game, particularly his willingness to compete, play hard and make the right basketball decisions.
That description fits the type of player Kentucky could be looking for under Pope.
Page is not simply an offensive player searching for opportunities to score. His game appears to be built around impacting multiple areas of the floor, which could make him especially valuable at the college level.
That versatility is one of the biggest reasons his recruitment is worth watching.
“His Ability to Impact the Game Is Elite”
New IMG Academy coach Jackson Johnson has been getting an up-close look at Page and believes the young prospect has the ability to become a special two-way player.
Johnson’s assessment of Page was particularly eye-opening.
He described Page’s overall impact as elite and emphasized his potential as an on-ball defender. According to Johnson, Page can defend a variety of players and does more than simply stay in front of them. His defensive pressure can disrupt opponents and create problems.
That is a major selling point.
In today’s college basketball landscape, players who can defend multiple positions while also contributing offensively are extremely valuable.
Page appears to have that type of versatility.
Johnson also pointed to Page’s ability to attack in transition, get downhill and play above the rim. Offensively, his passing and cutting ability further separate him from prospects who rely primarily on scoring.
In other words, Page does not need the ball in his hands every possession to make an impact.
That could be a major advantage for him at the next level.
His Summer Performance Put His Talent on Display
Page had an opportunity to showcase his abilities on one of the biggest international stages available to players in his age group.
He represented the United States at the U-17 World Cup in Turkey, where he averaged 9.8 points and 2.2 assists per game while shooting an impressive 69.7% from the field.
Those numbers become even more interesting when considering the level of talent surrounding him.
The United States roster included several other highly regarded prospects, including Beckham Black, Cayden Daughtry and CJ Rosser, all of whom have also received scholarship offers from Kentucky.
The U.S. team ultimately went 7-0 and captured another U-17 World Cup championship.
For Page, the gold medal added another significant accomplishment to an already impressive young résumé.
It was also his second gold medal with USA Basketball, following his first-place finish at the 2025 FIBA Under-16 AmeriCup in Mexico.
That kind of experience can be extremely valuable for a young prospect.
Playing alongside elite talent, competing internationally and learning how to contribute to a team filled with highly ranked players can accelerate a player’s development.
And Pope was there to watch.
Pope Has Already Seen Page Compete at the Highest Level
Pope traveled to Turkey to watch prospects from the U.S. team in action.
That means Kentucky’s interest in Page is not simply based on recruiting rankings, highlight clips or reports from scouts.
Pope has had an opportunity to watch him compete against elite competition.
That could prove important as Kentucky evaluates its options in the 2027 class.
For Page, meanwhile, the experience of playing for USA Basketball provides another layer to his development.
Johnson emphasized the importance of representing the country and learning how to sacrifice individually for collective success.
That mentality could be just as important as Page’s physical talent.
A player who can accept a role, defend, pass, cut and contribute without demanding constant touches can become extremely valuable on a college roster.
Kentucky fans should pay attention to that part of Page’s development.
IMG Academy Could Take His Game to Another Level
The next major step for Page will come at IMG Academy.
He is entering his senior season with a loaded roster around him, and that environment could give him plenty of opportunities to continue developing.
Several highly regarded 2027 prospects transferred to IMG this offseason, including Lucai Anderson, Josh Leonard, Quentin Mosby and Malik Olajuwon.
IMG also added Will Brunson, a small forward considered a top-20 prospect in the 2028 class.
That means Page will not be operating in an ordinary high school environment.
He will be surrounded by talented teammates and competing against strong competition on a regular basis.
Johnson has already made it clear that he wants to challenge Page.
The goal is to put him in uncomfortable situations and force him to grow.
That could be especially important for a player whose recruitment is already attracting significant high-major attention.
Kentucky will likely be watching closely.
The Recruitment Is Far From Over
Despite Kentucky’s scholarship offer and continued interest, there is no indication that Page has made a final decision.
He has not publicly released an official visit schedule for his senior year, nor has he announced a final list of schools under consideration.
That leaves plenty of room for the recruitment to develop.
Kentucky is one of several high-major programs interested in Page, meaning Pope and his staff will have plenty of competition.
Page has previously taken unofficial visits to Duke, North Carolina and North Carolina State, giving him familiarity with several major programs.
That makes the upcoming recruiting period especially important.
If Kentucky can get Page to Lexington for an official visit, the Wildcats could have another opportunity to strengthen their position.
And because Pope personally delivered the scholarship offer, there is already an established relationship between the Kentucky staff and the prospect.
Kentucky’s 2027 Class Is Already Taking Shape
Page is not the only 2027 recruit Kentucky is pursuing.
The Wildcats are involved with several highly ranked prospects, including point guard Nasir Anderson and center Lewis Uvwo.
Both players have visits to Kentucky scheduled for the fall.
Anderson is scheduled to visit Lexington on Oct. 5, while Uvwo is expected on campus the weekend of Sept. 12, which coincides with Kentucky’s football matchup against Alabama at Kroger Field.
Other highly regarded prospects, including Reese Alston, Cayden Daughtry, Demarcus Henry and Chase Lumpkin, have also included Kentucky among the schools they are considering.
Kentucky already has one commitment in the 2027 class after four-star small forward Ryan Hampton pledged to the Wildcats in June.
That gives Pope and his staff an early foundation, but there is clearly much more work to do.
Could Jordan Page Become a Major Kentucky Target?
That is the question Big Blue Nation should be watching.
Kentucky has already offered Page. Pope has personally been involved. The Wildcats have watched him compete internationally, and Page’s upcoming season at IMG Academy could provide even more opportunities for Kentucky to evaluate his progress.
The biggest attraction may ultimately be his versatility.
Page has the tools to defend, pass, cut, run the floor and finish above the rim. He has also shown that he can play alongside other elite prospects without needing to dominate the basketball.
That combination could make him an extremely appealing fit for Pope’s system.
Of course, recruiting can change quickly.
A player can rise or fall on a recruiting board. New programs can enter the picture. Visits can alter a recruitment. Relationships can become stronger over time.
For now, Kentucky appears to be firmly interested, while Page continues to develop and keep his recruitment relatively quiet.
That may actually make this story even more fascinating.
There is no commitment yet. There is no final list. There is no official visit schedule announced.
But there is a Kentucky offer, a relationship with Pope, an impressive international résumé and a senior season at one of the most talented programs in the country waiting to unfold.
For Kentucky fans, that is more than enough reason to pay attention.
If Page continues to develop the way his IMG coach expects, his recruitment could become one of the biggest storylines surrounding Kentucky’s 2027 class.
And if Pope eventually manages to bring him to Lexington, Kentucky could land a player capable of making an impact on both ends of the floor.
For now, the Wildcats are watching.
