Brandon Ingram is the Raptors’ big-name acquisition at NBA trade deadline. Here’s what you need to know

A short video clip has resurfaced in which Brandon Ingram is asked (along with his New Orleans Pelicans teammates Zion Williamson and CJ McCollum) to name their top cities in the NBA. After mentioning Miami and Los Angeles, Ingram shouted out Toronto and New York.

 

Well, the former all-star will get to play in Canada. The Raptors acquired Ingram in a trade reported overnight that sent Toronto native Kelly Olynyk, Bruce Brown, a 2026 first round pick (via Indiana) and the Raptors’ 2031 second-round pick to New Orleans

The 27-year-old Ingram has played nine NBA seasons after the Lakers picked him second overall in the 2016 draft. The six-foot-eight small forward has career averages of 19.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists. He has one year left on his contract that pays him $36 million (U.S.) so he’s an unrestricted free agent this summer.
