Mike Maignan is close to extending his contract with AC Milan and he will become one of the top earners in the squad, according to a report
Matteo Moretto reports in a piece for Relevo that – unlike Theo Hernandez – Maignan is about to renew his contract with Milan. There is a verbal agreement in place to extend the current contract that expires in 2026.
Maignan has already given the thumbs up to the Rossoneri directors and the parties are expected to meet again in the coming weeks to ratify and sign the renewal. The new contract will expire in 2028 with the option of a further year or in 2029, depending on when it is deposited.
The goalkeeper will become one of the highest paid in the squad, earning €5m net per season as the fixed amount and then some bonuses on top. It is a timely renewal given that the former Lille man will have just 12 months left on his deal by the end of the season.
There is no doubting that Maignan is a leader of the Milan squad as shown by the fact that Sergio Conceicao entrusted him with the captain’s armband when he arrived. However, in recent weeks he has let in some goals that will have disappointed him.
