Patrick Beverley Rides to LeBron’s Defense: ‘Leave Him Alone!’

In a recent episode of ESPN’s “Get Up,” former NBA player Kendrick Perkins criticized Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James for his last-minute withdrawal from the 2025 NBA All-Star Game. Perkins suggested that James’ late decision was “selfish,” as it prevented potential replacements from participating.

In defense of James, veteran guard Patrick Beverley offered a contrasting perspective. Beverley argued that LeBron’s delayed announcement was a strategic move to maintain fan interest and protect the game’s television ratings. He stated, “If he announces he won’t play, no one would watch it. With ratings down, he was just trying to protect the game and look out for fans.”
