Robinson, a freshman guard, suffered a broken foot in the Wildcats’ recent game against the Tennessee Volunteers. The injury is expected to keep Robinson sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Butler, a junior guard, suffered a knee injury in the same game and is expected to miss several weeks. The exact nature of Butler’s injury has not been disclosed, but it is believed to be a sprain or strain.

 

The losses of Robinson and Butler are significant for the Wildcats, who are already struggling to find consistency in their lineup. Robinson was averaging 8.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, while Butler was averaging 7.8 points and 2.5 assists per game.

“Jaxson and Lamont are both important players for us, and their injuries are a big blow,” said Kentucky head coach, John Calipari. “We’ll have to adjust our lineup and find ways to replace their production, but it won’t be easy.”

The Wildcats have already been dealing with injuries to several other key players, including forward Oscar Tshiebwe, who has been sidelined with a knee injury.

 

Despite the injuries, the Wildcats are still in contention for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. However, the losses of Robinson and Butler will make it even more challenging for the team to secure a bid.

“We’ll have to come together as a team and find ways to overcome these injuries,” said Calipari. “We’ll have to play with more energy and more toughness, and we’ll have to find ways to replace the production of Jaxson and Lamont.”

The Wildcats will look to regroup and refocus as they head into their next game against the Florida Gators. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, February 27, at Rupp Arena.
