Last week, Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves suffered a calf injury against the Los Angeles Clippers after nine minutes. He did not re-enter the game and subsequently missed the Lakers’ following two games. Before this injury, Reaves only missed one five-game stretch all season.
Ahead of their game against the New York Knicks on Thursday night, many Lakers fans are keeping an eye on Reaves and his status. Fortunately for them, the team recently provided a major Reaves update that should provide more clarity on his injury and when fans can expect to see him make his on-court return.
Though the Lakers won each of their two games without Reaves by a combined 27 points, it is fair to assume that they want him back on the court as soon as possible. Luckily for them, this seems like a real possibility.
According to the Lakers’ official injury report, the team has upgraded Reaves to probable ahead of their Thursday night battle against the Knicks.
Now in his fourth season in the NBA, Reaves has turned into a legitimate asset for the Lakers. Two seasons after finishing seventh in Sixth Man of the Year voting, the Arkansas native is having a career year and is proving to be a valuable part of the roster.
Through 53 games, Reaves is averaging 19.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1.1 steals. As the Lakers, who now own the No. 2 seed in the West, are hoping to end the regular season on a high note, Reaves’ return will prove to be a crucial one for the team.
