REPORT: Pacers legend Reggie Miller banned from East Finals broadcast panel after becoming a source of inspiration for Indiana

In a shocking move just hours before Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals, NBA officials have reportedly banned Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller from participating in the remaining broadcasts of the series. The decision comes amid rising concerns that Miller’s presence is providing a motivational edge to the Pacers — both on and off the court.

Miller, a longtime NBA on TNT analyst and iconic figure in Indiana sports history, has been highly visible courtside throughout the playoffs. His passionate commentary, emotional support for the team, and public appearances in Pacers gear have reportedly “blurred the line” between analyst and active motivator, according to league sources.

The league maintains that the move is intended to preserve competitive neutrality. “The NBA supports all forms of expression and legacy participation,” said an unnamed league official. “But when a broadcaster becomes an emotional rallying point for one team during the playoffs, it raises concerns about fairness and integrity in the presentation of the game.”

Since the start of the series against the Boston Celtics, Pacers players have frequently referenced Reggie Miller in interviews, calling him a “symbol of Indiana grit” and “the spirit in the building.” Several players even wore Miller’s No. 31 wristbands during warmups in Game 2, fueling speculation that his influence was becoming more than symbolic.

Head coach Rick Carlisle addressed the issue after Wednesday’s shootaround, stating, “Reggie is part of our DNA. He’s not just a legend, he’s family. Whatever role he plays, his presence lifts this team — that’s undeniable.”

Fans were quick to react to the news on social media, with #LetReggieSpeak trending within hours. Many believe that banning Miller is an overreach by the league and shows how impactful his voice still is, nearly two decades after retiring from the game.

Inside sources suggest that members of the Celtics organization raised concerns about Miller’s involvement, feeling his visible support was creating an unfair psychological advantage. Though no formal complaint has been confirmed, the timing of the league’s decision has raised eyebrows.

Miller himself has remained diplomatic, releasing a brief statement through his representatives: “I have nothing but love for this game and this team. I respect the league’s decision and will continue cheering for my Pacers — just not from behind a microphone.”

TNT has yet to comment officially on Miller’s removal but has confirmed he will not appear on their panel for the remainder of the East Finals. Analysts are speculating whether the decision will carry into future rounds, should Indiana advance.

This development adds another layer of drama to an already intense series. With the Pacers feeding off emotion and history, and the Celtics aiming to silence the noise, Game 3 is now set to tip off in front of a home crowd even more fired up by Reggie’s absence.

As for Miller, he may be off the air — but it’s clear his legacy still echoes loudly in Gainbridge Fieldhouse, inspiring a new generation of Pacers to chase greatness on their home court.
