Luka Doncic’s insane hourly Lakers wage on new deal compared to Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese’s WNBA salary

In perhaps the most shocking move in the history of the NBA, Doncic was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers in February, with Anthony Davis going the other way. Since then, the 26-year-old has gone on to perform as expected, standing out as one of the best players in the sport right now, leading to the Lakers offering him a stunning new contract.

Ahead of his previous deal expiring next summer, the Lakers agreed a new deal with Doncic, keeping him at the team for another three years, with a player option in 2028. And as more details of the new contract emerge online, the stunning hourly wage the young talent is set to earn has been revealed.

Announcing his deal, Doncic said: “I’m really grateful to the Lakers organization, my teammates and the fans for welcoming me and my family with so much support and kindness since day one.”

According to a report from ESPN, Doncic is set to earn an eye-watering $165million as part of his contract extension, taking his annual earnings to a humble $55m. If broken down to how much he earns per hour every day, Doncic’s wage will see him take home just over $6,278 for each of the 24 hours in a day throughout the entire three years.

To put that into perspective, Manchester City star Erling Haaland, who is reportedly the highest paid player in the Premier League, is believed to earn around $3,799 (£2,963) per hour. This number becomes even more stunning when you consider the fact that Doncic’s colleagues in the Women’s NBA have recently been speaking out about a gender pay gap.

Key players like superstar Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky star Angel Reese have been at the centre of the campaign, with Reese claiming that her current salary ‘couldn’t cover her bills’. Although it is not known exactly what WNBA players like Reese and Clark earn, it has been reported that both players earn less than $80,000 a year.
