UNC Coach Hubert Davis Talks Start of Conference Play

In his pre-conference press conference, UNC Coach Hubert Davis sent a clear message to the ACC: the Tar Heels are ready to put in WORK. With the season opener win over a tough Texas Tech team in the bag, Davis is turning his focus to the upcoming conference slate, and he’s PUMPED.

“We’re prepared, we’re hungry, we’re tough,” Davis declared. “We’ve got a great group of guys, and they’re ready to compete against the best in the ACC.”  Davis highlighted the team’s focus on defense and energy, pointing to their suffocating 61-56 win over a top-10 team as proof that UNC’s got what it takes to make a deep run. “We competed at a high level, and that’s what we’re gonna need to do in the ACC,” he said.

Davis praised his team’s defensive grit, citing their ability to shut down opponents in crunch time. “Our guys are buying in on defense, and that’s gonna pay off big time in the ACC,” he said. The Tar Heels’ coach also expects big things from his stars – R.J. Davis, Cormac Ryan, and Caleb Love are all looking to take their game to the next level.

“We’re gonna go out there and compete like we always do,” Davis said. “Clemson’s got a great team, but so do we. It’s gonna be a tough, tough game.”
