Aaron Ramsdale, the troubled goalkeeper for Arsenal, has acknowledged that his failure to reclaim his starting position at Arsenal is a threat to his berth on the England national team.
On September 17, 2023, Aaron Ramsdale was left off of Arsenal’s starting lineup as head coach Mikel Arteta selected to start David Raya ahead of him in the Premier League matchup with Everton.
Since then, Arteta has continued to have faith in Raya for Premier League duties. Raya is now on loan at the Emirates Stadium from Brentford.
Aaron Ramsdale’s situation has gotten so terrible that he hasn’t started a game for Arsenal since September 27, 2023, when the Gunners defeated Brentford 1-0 in a Carabao Cup match.
Ramsdale’s starting place in the England team has also been lost due to his exclusion from the starting lineup for Arsenal; Gareth Southgate seems to prefer Jordan Pickford of Everton.
The 25-year-old English goalkeeper said in a Daily Mail interview that if he doesn’t start for Arsenal, he might not be selected for the national squad.
“Are you worried that I won’t be able to make the England team? Of course, this is the first time I’ve ever found myself in such a predicament.
“I’d like to rejoin my club team.”
“I would rather have Pickford as N1 than just give the manager a headache.”
Aaron Ramsdale stated of his partnership with David Raya, “We work really well together professionally.” In training, we push each other hard.
He picks me up on the days when I come in and I’m depressed about the circumstances. The same for him, I would. We help one another out.
