BBC pundit Gareth Crook has claimed Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold’s scoring ability is better than Manchester City’s Erling Braut Haaland.
The 25-year-old made his senior debut in 2016 after coming through the Reds’ youth system and becoming a key part of the Merseyside club’s first team in recent years.
Liverpool have won every competition under Jurgen Klopp and the Englishman has played a key role in their success in recent years. Although the quality of his defenders is second to none, he has been criticized for his lack of skill on the defensive end.
His defensive frailties were exposed again last weekend when he conceded seven tackles against Manchester City.
However, he proved his ability in front of goal when he equalized against the Citizens with a superb strike to help the team leave the Etihad Stadium with a point. Crook praises Alexander-Arnold.
Now Crook has written for BBC Sport that Alexander-Arnold’s ability on the ball is outstanding and that he is as good as Kevin De Bruyne at it.
Analyst says Haaland can finish chances, but doesn’t handle the ball as cleanly as Alexander-Arnold. Crook also claimed that former Liverpool stars Alec Lindsey and Chris Lawler hit the same ball as Alexander-Arnold.
The scammer said:“With the exception of Kevin De Bruyne, no striker in the Premier League throws the ball better than Trent Alexander-Arnold. Erling Holland almost always finds every corner of the net, but his goals are not as clean as Alexander-Arnold’s.
“It’s a throwback to the days when Liverpool full-backs like Chris Lawler and Alec Lindsay not only loved to drop into the third and score, but were also great at catching the ball.
“Liverpool have suffered from poor defending in recent years, with Alexander-Arnold’s poor defensive contributions being one of the main problems.
So the 25-year-old needs to improve this aspect of his game or Klopp will have to change his position and bring in a new right-back to bring him onto the field in the future.
