Aldridge happy seeing Liverpool boss Klopp silencing critics

Liverpool hero John Aldridge is happy for manager Jurgen Klopp over the team’s improvement this season.

Aldridge wrote for the Sunday World: “Roll the clock back a year and people were asking serious questions about the future of Jurgen Klopp.

“A miserable start to the season had ended any hopes of a Premier League title challenge and people were asking whether Klopp still had the fight left in him to start again at Liverpool.

“He had a similar issue after some great success as Borussia Dortmund manager and never found a way out of that hole, so it was natural people were asking if history was repeating itself.

“Such was the decline in Liverpool last season that some concluded Klopp had reached the end of his Anfield road, even though none of us wanted to believe this great manager had arrived at that point.

“I sympathise with managers when everything seems to be caving in around them having been in that position myself.

“I remember my final days as Tranmere boss. You can get to the point where you can’t see the wood from the trees and every decision you make seems to go wrong.

“You go home at night and try to work out where it’s all going wrong and the truth is, you can’t find any answers.

“That’s why I walked away from management and never tried to get back into it.

“I don’t know if Klopp ever got to that point at Liverpool last season, but he must have wondered what was happening as the team that had won everything in the game started to fall apart.”
