Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota and Thiago injury latest plus expected Liverpool return dates

Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker were added to Liverpool’s injury list on Saturday as Jurgen Klopp struggles with several key options.

Jurgen Klopp will need to monitor the fitness of Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker, who picked up injuries in Saturday’s game against Manchester City.Jota was replaced by Luis Diaz at the Etihad shortly after the break and Alisson needed late treatment as City found a winner before City’s medical team arrived after the final whistle.

The pair could join Stefan Vaicetic, Andy Robertson and Thiago Alcantara in the Anfield squad ahead of Klopp’s one-month spell. Here are the latest details on the injured Reds squad and their return dates.

Allison Becker

After Saturday’s draw at the Etihad, Klopp appears to have said the Brazilian picked up a thigh injury when he left the pitch at full-time.In his post-match press conference, the Liverpool manager said: “I hope it’s not that serious, but there’s no answer.

I don’t know what’s going on at the moment.” “I spoke to him and he said he felt a little bit but had to wait for the scan.”Estimated Return Date: Unknown

Diogo Jota

Like Alisson, Jota was another member of United’s away squad who wanted out of east Manchester amid doubts over his fitness.

The Portugal international went down early in the second half with a muscle strain and was soon replaced by Diaz. Jota is due to undergo tests at the AXA training facility this week as Liverpool continue to assess the severity of the problem, which could see him miss the team’s games against LASK and Fulham.

Andy RobertsonKostas Tsimikas is expected to deputize for Robertson until at least January, with the Scotland international set to return after dislocating his shoulder in October.

The left-back has not played for club or country since clashing with Scotland’s Unai Simon during last month’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Spain.

Robertson gave the following update on his condition last week: “So far so good. It’s been 3 weeks since the surgery and everything is fine. You have to take it little by little every week. “Everything has gone well so far and I hope it will continue to go well in the future,” he said.

Thiago Alcantara

I hope Thiago can play again in January. If seven months of rehab have taught him anything, it’s that he rarely comes back from injury with a plan in place. The Spaniard has not featured for the Reds since the 2-1 win over West Ham United in April after deciding that a shortened 2022/23 season would help him return in the summer.

Things did not look good for the Spaniard, who briefly returned to training in the summer and then fell short at the start of the new season.

Klopp told reporters of Thiago earlier this month: “This is an ongoing problem and we can’t put any pressure on him. We are waiting for him to return. It will probably be around the beginning of the new year. It’s really worth a try.”

Stepan Bajcetic

Like Thiago, Bajcetic has had an injury-free season at Anfield, making just two appearances in all competitions.

The Spaniard initially picked up an adductor injury in March and has since suffered another setback which has hampered his progress.

Last week, Bajcetic updated his current situation and said: “I had the same injury before, but when it started to hurt, I started thinking about it.”But in my mind I was thinking, ‘It can’t be the same, I have to keep playing.’ “But I did the scan. The scan is very rigorous. They always look the same.

I remember calling him when I was home and saying, “You’re stressed.” It was definitely a difficult time, but I think we got through it well. We saw this as an opportunity to strengthen and improve in some areas. “I tried to stay positive mentally.”
