Andrew Robertson is on the bench for Liverpool against Fulham. The left-back suffered a shoulder injury while playing for Scotland last October.Pep Lijnders admitted on Tuesday that he needs to regain his fitness. Liverpool left-back Andrew Robertson has been named in the matchday squad for the first time in more than three months when the Reds take on Fulham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night. There are 90 minutes left between Liverpool, who recently came from behind to win the first leg 2-1 at Anfield, and next month’s final at Wembley.Robertson was expected to return to the team, his name appearing on the bench when the squad was confirmed an hour before kick-off. The 29-year-old suffered a shoulder injury while on international duty with Scotland last October and later underwent surgery to permanently repair the problem.Robertson has not featured for Liverpool since the 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on October 8 four months ago. He trained with the team yesterday. Now, 13 weeks later, she had an appointment with the surgeon to make sure everyone had full contact. That’s understandable,” Liverpool assistant coach Pep Lijnders told the media on Tuesday. “He’s been working hard recently and he’s been rehabbing really well, so from a sports science point of view he’s healthy. Now he has to prepare the team properly.”Joe Gomez is set to fill the left-back spot in Robertson’s absence and Kostas Tsimikas has been ruled out in recent weeks. It remains to be seen whether he will be available for the match against Fulham and a few more minutes will be needed if a second-half tie is comfortable in Liverpool’s favour.
