Andy Robertson commented on Kenny Dalglish lifetime achievement award last night.
Dalglish was honored with the gong at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards on Tuesday night. Having dedicated his entire life to football and charity work, he was fit for a king.
Kenny received his award from former Liverpool team-mate Alan Hansen and was joined on stage by a host of former Liverpool legends.
There was Andy Robertson, one of Jurgen Klopp’s modern legends, alongside John Barnes, Ian Rush and a tearful Graeme Souness. It was a big moment for Robertson to find himself in great Liverpool company.
Taking on Instagram this morning, the 29-year-old reflected on the incredible evening.”It was an honor and a privilege to be part of Sir Kenny’s big night,” Robertson wrote.
“Congratulations on receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. There could not be a more deserving recipient.”Listen, Robo! Congratulations, Kenny!
Robertson was part of Kenny’s big nightWe don’t know how this invitation came about, but it was great to see Dalglish, past and present, on stage with him.
Wife Marina was of course there, as were Kenny’s Premier League winning captain at Blackburn, Tim Sherwood and star striker Alan Shearer..
The daughter of Kelly Cates also appeared on the stage, like many other characters in the life of the great man. It will be a wonderful and emotional event for Robertson.
Unlike many of his supporters, the Liverpool left-back never worked directly with Kenny during his career. But like Dalglish before him, Robbo is the Scotland captain and it was great to come to Liverpool to pay tribute to King Kenny.
Who better than someone to show off their couple’s country bracelets? The two seem to have a good relationship and have reportedly interacted a lot via social media in the past.
As always, Dalglish is still part of Liverpool’s set-up and will make a big noise next time at Anfield. Probably tonight against West Ham.
As for Robertson, it will be a while before we see him. But I think my shoulder healed well last night! All in all a good night.
