“Liverpool FC are looking forward to welcoming over 57,000 fans to Anfield for the visit of Manchester United on Sunday. This is the largest turnout in the last 50 years. “The next phase of our planned phased opening of the new Anfield Road stand will see the extended upper tier open to supporters for the first time.
“The opening was made possible after the club received all the necessary health and safety approvals from Liverpool City Council following a successful pilot event with a special question and answer session with manager Jurgen Klopp on Monday evening.”The report also confirmed that it was the first time since 1973 that more than 56,000 supporters had gathered at our famous home. It adds to the already tense atmosphere and makes the game against Manchester United even better. “Add to that the fact that there is still room to expand the capacity to 61,000 once everything is set, and the buzz on the red side of Merseyside gets even louder. The club’s record attendance for a league game is over 58,000, so another record will be broken in the new year and could be equaled by winning the title. Let’s hope it’s worth the wait and we’ll soon see similar shiny silverware at or near the glittering Anfield Road end!
Liverpool fans will be aware that the opening of the new stand has been delayed several times. But we are finally ready to welcome a record crowd to Anfield for the next game
