Liverpool and Arsenal meet at Anfield this weekend. Here’s the latest injury news from Mikel Arteta’s training camp, with six players set to be ruled out.

Confidence among Arsenal’s players has soared after last week’s 2-0 win over Brighton lifted them to the top of the Premier League. However, the upcoming clash on Merseyside is expected to be a highly competitive affair, with many predicting that a win for either side could cement their positions as strong title contenders.

However, Arsenal’s preparations for the trip to Liverpool have ended with injuries to several key players. Italian midfielder Jorginho missed the win against Brighton with a foot injury.

Despite the setback, Jorginho told Football.London that his condition is improving and was optimistic about his chances of playing next weekend.

Mohamed Elneny is another player whose appearance at Anfield is uncertain after picking up an injury against PSV Eindhoven. The Egypt international is understood to be suffering from a hamstring problem but could feature in time for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The two midfielders join the growing injury list at London Colney. Thomas Partey, selected in Ghana’s provisional AFCON squad, continues his rehabilitation from a groin injury in north London.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed doubts over Partey’s availability for the FA Cup tie against Liverpool at the start of January. He noted that Partey’s recovery is progressing well, but if he can return in time for this game, he will recover very quickly and will not be available this weekend.

Arteta also highlighted the current state of the squad, which is missing five key players due to injury. But he was optimistic about the team’s ability to persevere despite these challenges.
