Like everyone else, I was shocked by the kidnapping of Luis Diaz’s parents last weekend.
This is ridiculous, I can’t believe it. I don’t know where the world came from. Nowadays, I can’t imagine one of the kids coming up and saying, “I can’t play today because my parents were kidnapped.” It’s impossible.
I have met Diaz’s family several times because they sometimes hang out in our lounge before matches and they are very nice people. You can see how close they all are.
We can only hope that it will be resolved. This is terrible for Luis Diaz and he must be going through hell right now.I thought the club handled the situation well. Jurgen Klopp said it very well after the game and it was fantastic to see Diogo Jota lift Diaz’s shirt on the pitch to celebrate his goal.
All you have to do is support it. That’s what we do, trying to make him feel as good as possible at this terrible time. I hope something positive comes out about her father. It really is.
If I were in that position as Diaz’s colleague, I would have nothing to say to him. Depending on the nature of the event, you may not know what to actually say.
Teams keep coming to Anfield with the same planWe have now kept a clean sheet which is very good after conceding our first goal in as many games this season. Needless to say, neither Liverpool nor Nottingham Forest came up with anything on Sunday afternoon.
These days you see them playing at Anfield against teams that don’t want to attack and this is largely the same and will probably continue to be a trend for years to come. Manchester City and Arsenal also face similar problems when their teams travel to their respective stadiums.
When you look at the difference between us and teams like Everton and Forest, it’s understandable to a degree, but that’s not the football I grew up with. I’m used to seeing teams go head to head. Even when I was in charge of Tranmere Rovers, I never put together a team that defended every game.
You always went on the offensive and tried to make a fair fight.I know teams don’t want to lose, but they have a game plan to make things better for them and their fans. Orman’s followers must have been quite disappointed by what they saw. One thing Forest did understand was to bring the Hillsborough flag back to Anfield. It was a nice compliment from the fans.
It would have been nice to have Divock Origi in Sunday’s game, but unfortunately he was ruled out due to injury. His great purposes for us will remain in our memories forever. There is no doubt he would have been given an Anfield welcome had he been on the scene.
