Mo Salah reached a milestone by scoring Liverpool FC’s 200th goal at Crystal Palace. Garth Crooks agrees with Jurgen Klopp that the Egypt international is a “very special” figure.
“Very special numbers for a very special player,” Jurgen Klopp said after Liverpool’s win over Crystal Palace, with the pundit writing on BBC Sport. “Salah scored his 200th goal for the club at Selhurst Park and helped seal the win which saw us finish top of the table.”To score 200 goals in a career is a huge achievement, but to do it for the same club is truly amazing.
“This further cemented the striker’s place in the club’s all-time goalscoring list, with the player now fourth, 28 goals behind the legendary Billy Liddell (228 goals). Given Salah’s form, you wouldn’t expect him to reach that level before the season ends in May. Ian Rush’s record is one to be broken.346 goals remain the goal of the king of Egypt. The 31-year-old, whose contract expires in 2025, will clearly need a contract extension even if he is having his most productive season to date.
With 22 goals in as many games this season (sounds ridiculous right?), you’d have to think contract talks are relatively inevitable. His fitness is very good and he has adjusted his role effectively in the side to not rely on his pace to pace opposition defenses every week but still provide great value.
