Following Victor Osimhen’s injury sustained during Nigeria’s 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia in an international friendly last Friday, Samuel Chukwueze, another forward for the Super Eagles, will be sidelined for four weeks.
The AC Milan player also sustained injuries during the international friendly match at Estadio Muncipal de Portimao between Saudi Arabia’s Green Falcons and his team.
Chukwueze, who was substituted for Leicester City’s forward Kelechi Iheanacho in the 65th minute of the match against the Green Falcons, reportedly suffered a femoral bicep lesion, according to the Italian news source sempremilan. The healing process for an injury takes roughly one month.
The quick winger will miss Milan’s upcoming games against Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain (Champions League), Napoli, Udinese, and Leece, much like Osimhen, who is out for six weeks.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Super Eagles coaching staff did not respond immediately to the news of Chukwueze’s injury, but if he is unable to play before November 13, when Nigeria begins their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign against Lesotho and Zimbabwe the following weekend, it will be a major loss.
Chukwueze has four goals for the Nigerian Super Eagles in 28 games.
The Super Eagles, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and hosts Cote d’Ivoire are in Group A of the AFCON 2023.
Chukwueze, who hasn’t been able to reproduce his Villarreal form at San Siro, is much more crippled by the scenario.
He has only played twice in the 2023–24 UEFA Champions League and has only made seven appearances in Serie A this season.
