Liverpool supporters believe there is a pattern emerging with this season’s Europa League – something that would be a potential blow for the Reds hoping to win the trophy in Dublin next May.
A disappointing 2022/23 campaign resulted in qualification for UEFA’s secondary continental competition, one Liverpool are major favourites to win after reinforcing their midfield in the transfer market and winning their two opening group matches. Success would mean finally claiming the one trophy that has eluded the club in all of the competitions they have competed in since Jurgen Klopp signed as manager, however the worst fears could realised if Sevilla drop into the Europa League.
Last night the Spanish club played host to Arsenal in the Champions League at their Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, losing 2-1 courtesy of goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus. After three matches this leaves them on two points, clinging to third place in Group B on goal difference.
