Liverpool will be looking for their first win in eight years at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds last won at home against Manchester City on November 21, 2015, a month after Jurgen Klopp took over. Perhaps it is a positive sign that the date is so close to this date, but it is clear that Liverpool will have to do everything possible to achieve anything.
If two teams are top of the Premier League and have a one-point lead between them, most Liverpool fans would probably prefer a draw.
And according to former England goalkeeper David Seaman, that’s exactly what they’re getting. The 60-year-old Reds backed the 2022 tie on the Seaman Says podcast.
When asked to predict the outcome of the game, the pundit replied: “I’ll go with 2-2.” We will have it!”Liverpool” prepared for a draw with a high score
If you offered Liverpool fans a guaranteed point and two goals at the Etihad tomorrow, most people wouldn’t take it. There have been instances where United have come close to a home win against City, but it is relatively rare for them to come away with anything.
This will be Klopp’s ninth visit to the blue half of Manchester in the Premier League and despite drawing three, Liverpool have lost half of those outings. Of course, losing to ‘City’ is not a shame. Ultimately, this is the most difficult game of the season for any team in the Premier League.
But if any team can go to the Etihad with confidence, it has to be Liverpool. This was not the case last year. Reds were in poor form when they visited the champions in April and they were treated accordingly.
But after seeing their opponents score big, Liverpool will be determined to prove they are still City’s biggest rivals.
If they can live up to or better Seaman’s predictions, it will be a statement to the rest of the division that Liverpool are back and bad. Come on Red!
