Seaman was speaking on his Seaman Says podcast after the Reds left the Etihad Stadium with a very decent point to maintain their momentum.
Unfortunately, it proved to be a difficult day at the office for Alisson. Manchester City’s goal came from the Brazilian slicing an attempted pass to Mohamed Salah. David Seaman shares what he noticed about Alisson during Liverpool draw Alisson looked uncomfortable in possession on several occasions. And it may not have been all that surprising to many when the 31-year-old went down late on with an injury.
Liverpool had made all of their substitutions by that stage. So Alisson needed to see out the game. But there will now be concerns over his fitness. But David Seaman suggested that he was already wondering if the Liverpool stopper was injured in his other leg before he received treatment.
“It looks like Alisson may have pulled his hamstring by the way. I tell you what, I noticed him kicking with the outside of his right foot more than using his left. And it was actually in doing that that he looked like he’d pulled a muscle in his leg. So I don’t know whether he’s got a problem in his left leg. He’s certainly got one in his right leg now,” he told Seaman Says.
“I’ve seen him clear it with his left leg a lot of times. I saw him hitting it with the outside of his right foot and it just made me question as to why he’s doing that. Is he trying to protect something?” Reds will be keeping their fingers crossed He has also been so important to Liverpool over the last couple of years. And it is often said that teams rarely achieve success unless they have a world-class goalkeeper in their side.
Alisson is most definitely that. And Liverpool are very much on their way back towards the summit in the Premier League. So it would be a real setback if Alisson is now facing a spell on the sidelines.
David Seaman has shared what he noticed about Alisson in the minutes before the Liverpool goalkeeper went down injured during their draw with Manchester City on Saturday.
And he was a little fortunate to not concede in the second-half. While he was fouled, there was not a lot of contact on him before Ruben Dias poked the ball home.
It would be a massive blow for Liverpool if the goalkeeper is out for any length of time. He did not have his best stuff on Saturday. However, Alisson is one of the very best in the entire world.
