Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool has been uncertain for some time, but recent reports suggest he is closing in on a new contract at Anfield.
The Egyptian playmaker was heavily linked with a move away from the club last summer, but the Merseysiders rejected bids to let him go.
Salah is now close to signing a new contract with Liverpool, according to an exclusive report from the FT.
Liverpool rejected a £150m bid for Al Ittihad last summer and are keen to keep him as long as possible, according to a source. The former Roma player has signed a contract with the Reds worth £18.2m a year, or £350,000 a week, until 2022.
Last season, the winger directly contributed to 46 goals (30 goals, 16 assists) in 51 games in all competitions.
Furthermore, he has shown no signs of slowing down, scoring 18 goals and 9 assists in 27 games under manager Jurgen Klopp this season.
Salah is the best striker in the Premier League this season and deserves another pay rise based on his performances.
However, the African superstar, currently playing in Egypt’s AFCON, is a veteran and will turn 32 in six months.
