Liverpool are unlikely to press ahead with a move for Andre Trindad despite being heavily linked with a move for the midfielder in recent weeks.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are yet to open talks for the 22-year-old Fluminense star, but Liverpool are considered favorites to sign Andre.
Clubs such as Arsenal are also said to be interested in the youngster and the update comes as a blow to Liverpool fans, who until recently believed their side would land the Brazilian.
However, Liverpool’s interest in signing the midfielder appears to have cooled, with the Reds losing ground in the race to sign Andre in January.
Romano: “He is still a valuable player for Liverpool, but he is not a priority. At the moment, Liverpool are not negotiating or pursuing a deal.
“He is a player that Liverpool know very well because they wanted to sign him in August, but that is not the case now and other clubs are also competing to sign Andre.”Liverpool cannot afford to miss out on Andre.
Hailed as a “special” player by Romano, Andre is clearly ready to take Europe by storm after making a name for himself in South America with Fluminense over the past 12 months.
And for Liverpool, they cannot afford to miss out on Andre in January and the midfielder is exactly what Jurgen Klopp is looking for in a defensive midfield addition.
It’s understandable why United would take their foot off the gas for Andre, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that talks seem to have stalled at the moment.
Liverpool need to strengthen their midfield in January and Andre is too good an option to pass up, especially in the face of competition from rival Premier League clubs.
