On Friday, another prospect announced his official visit plans.
Four-star small forward Asa Montgomery updated his list of visits, including one to Duke that will happen on October 2nd. He’s set to take eight total visits this Fall including to some big programs. His first visit will come on August 28th when he goes to LSU followed by Florida (Sept. 4th), UConn (Sept. 11th), Providence (Sept. 18th), North Carolina (Sept. 25th), Arizona (October 16th), and Louisville (Oct. 30th).
Getting a player like Montgomery on campus is a good opportunity for Duke to make their pitch early and try to land the 2027 recruit. They will also host Deng Ngor on October 15th for a visit.
Duke is expected to have a small 2027 recruiting class in terms of high school players as they have built their roster this past year for the future as well. With Kager Knueppel already committed and just a small amount of visits lined up, Duke will have to be very selective in who they take or scout for the class.
The 6-foot-7 Montgomery is a small forward out of Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs Georgia. He’s ranked No. 42 nationally, the No. 11 small forward, and the No. 6 player in the state of Georgia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. He has a total of 27 offers and for now, is shifting his focus to the schools that he has set a visit to.
Duke turned in the No. 1 overall recruiting class for the 2026 cycle under Jon Scheyer and will now look to build on that with the 2027 and 2028 classes. We are now starting to get a look at just who Duke is prioritizing in these classes.
