Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils put together another successful offseason this summer, bringing in players like Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje, Deron Rippey Jr. and John Blackwell. Not only that, they’ve received commitments from other top prospects like Kager Knueppel, Luke Paul and most recently, Asa Montgomery.
Following Montgomery’s decision to join the brotherhood, he discussed his reasoning behind the choice, saying, “It’s the presentation they showed. A presentation of how I’ll be used in the system, what I need to get better at, their plan for me, how they are going to develop me. After that presentation, I was like, “Yeah, this is the one.”
Montgomery was also asked which other prospects he’d like to recruit to Duke, to which he replied, “Definitely Colton Hiller, I hope he can come. Yann (Kamagate).”
Both of these players are prospects from the class of 2028, and each have received official offers from the university. Hiller, who is ranked as a five-star recruit, made a visit to Duke in early October. As for Kamagate, he’s a 7’0″ center, ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in his class, one spot above Hiller. Kamagate has more than 20 offers but has yet to take an official visit to any school.
