Fabrizio Romano shares what 22y/o said about turning down Liverpool’s summer offer

Fabrizio Romano has shared the words of Andre Trindade, explaining why the midfielder turned down an offer to join Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

According to ESPN Brasil, United made a €30m (£26.2m) bid for the Fluminense star last August, but the offer was rejected by the Brazilian side as they did not want to sell him mid-season the season. Unlike the UK, it operates on a calendar year basis.

The 22-year-old admitted it was a “dream” to play for the likes of LFC but felt it was best to stay until at least the rest of 2023.

Romano took to social media on Saturday night to share the following comments about Andre’s summer bid from Liverpool. “The club, the league… every player dreams of playing for a club like this. It was something I couldn’t refuse. I decided to keep my word. “I don’t think I’ll be 100 percent comfortable taking the offer,” he said.

Fluminense player Andre said of Liverpool’s offer last August: “It was something we couldn’t refuse, the club, the league…”. “Every player dreams of playing for such a club. I decided to keep my promise and stay. “I wouldn’t feel 100% comfortable accepting the offer.” Many South American players are jumping at the chance to make it big in Europe.

Especially at 22, when he is not yet a promising player looking for a place at the highest level.

Andre has already made 160 appearances for Fluminense and won two titles in Brazil ( Transfermarkt ), so it would be understandable if he felt it was time to embrace Liverpool’s progress in the summer. But he will likely feel compelled to stick with his current team for next Saturday’s final against Boca Juniors.

They are still competing for the Copa Libertadores, which they could win for the first time in their history.Along with a commendable loyalty, the fact that the midfielder didn’t move to Europe when he felt it “wouldn’t be inconvenient” is also a testament to his belief that it could happen.

This will not be your only opportunity to cross the Atlantic. Liverpool look certain to win the race to sign Andre next year (Football Insider). If he can inspire them to a historic continental win next weekend, he could feel the time is right to leave – and get the blessing of a grateful club.
