Former Duke second-round pick Trevor Keels secured another NBA contract Sunday evening, signing an Exhibit 10 deal with the Washington Wizards. Keels, the No. 42 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, had a dominant summer league campaign for the Miami Heat, averaging 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals over four games.
After playing one season (2021-22) with the Blue Devils, the Maryland native has been working toward a permanent spot in the NBA. During his rookie campaign as a 19-year-old, he made three appearances for the New York Knicks, averaging a single point in 2.7 minutes per game.
After two consecutive seasons in the G-League, Keels got another chance last year, suiting up in eight games for the Miami Heat.
Now onto Washington, Keels is likely to begin the year with their G-League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go. However, a two-way contract isn’t out of the question, as the Wizards have one two-way contract slot remaining.
