After agreeing to a contract extension before free agency began, the Phoenix Suns have officially re-signed former Duke center Mark Williams to a three-year deal worth $38 million.
Williams posted solid numbers in his first season with the Suns after a trade sent him from Charlotte to Phoenix. In 60 games last season, Williams averaged 11.7 points, eight rebounds, one assist, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks. It was also a durable campaign by Williams’ standards, having played fewer than 45 games in each of his first three seasons.
In his two seasons at Duke, Williams was an efficient shot-blocker and rim-runner. During his sophomore season the Virginia native averaged 11.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 2.8 blocks and 0.5 steals. Next year with the Suns, Williams will be one of three former Blue Devils, joining Khaman Maluach and the recently signed Luke Kennard.
