Gameweek 13 looks set to be the toughest captaincy decision of the season as Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah go head-to-head in the Premier League weekend opener.
Manchester City v Liverpool will feature a host of potential assets in Saturday’s first leg. Knowing who should hold the captain’s armband could mean the difference between the highs and lows of this week’s game.
We used Fantasy Football Hub’s powerful AI score prediction tool to pick the best plays for FPL Gameweek 13.
SON HEUNG-MIN
Son Heung-min expected to regain his scoring ability
Team: Aston Villa (H);
Expected points: 7.3
For the first time this season, a player other than Erling Haaland has topped the scoring predictions, further highlighting the challenge of selecting the best asset as captain. Son Heung-min has scored eight goals in the league this season, so he would be an easy choice to transfer.
However, James Maddison’s injury was a big loss for Tottenham and Son Heung-min’s lack of creativity hampered his ability to hit the target, especially in the loss to Wolves.
ERLING HAALAND
Manchester City face Liverpool at home. Team: Liverpool (H);
Expected points: 6.6
Erling Haaland is currently carrying a yellow flag in FPL which doesn’t help him predict goals but is expected to be fit for Man City’s big game against Liverpool and could be my captain again this weekend.
The Norwegian has scored five goals and provided two assists in the last four weeks and could be considered fit for this match.
After missing last season through injury, he is still waiting for his first Premier League goal against Liverpool, but a home game could suit him.
MOHAMED SALAH
Salah could benefit at Manchester City
Fixtures: Manchester City (A);
Expected points: 5.7
Mohamed Salah has had his best start to the Premier League season, scoring 10 goals and providing 4 assists in his first 12 games of the season.
He is by far the game’s top scorer, having scored five goals in the last four weeks without missing a minute.
We can also see Salah as a strong player in the game, but away games make that a bit more difficult. Salah scored 7 goals and 3 assists in 12 Premier League games against Manchester City last season, both home and away.
