Latest Chelsea news as Mauricio Pochettino is preparing the Blues to face Aston Villa tonight in the fourth round of the FA Cup but will have several key players unavailable
Mauricio Pochettino will be forced to deal with a number of injury concerns for the game against Aston Villa.
Chelsea host Villa at Stamford Bridge tonight in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The Blues claimed a 4-0 victory over Preston North End in the previous round to secure their spot against Villa.
Chelsea head into the contest just three days after reaching the Carabao Cup final with the victory over Middlesbrough. However, Pochettino is being forced to manage his squad without several of his key players available.
Christopher Nkunku and Malu Gusto will not be available against Villa due to injury. Pochettino confirmed in a press conference on Friday that the pair will miss tonight’s match, despite taking part in training, but could be available to face Liverpool in the Premier League next week.
“No they [Nkunku and Gusto] could be available for Liverpool on Wednesday,” the 51-year-old said. “We need to see how they evolve in the next few days. But they’re not going to be available tomorrow.”
Cesare Casadei returned from his loan spell with Leicester City earlier this month. However, the midfielder will not be available to face Villa due to being cup-tied after playing in the third-round win over Millwall where he was on the score sheet.
