But the Liverpool boss can take solace from the fact that his Liverpool players have all excelled while on international duty and will be returning mostly in high spirits. From Dominik Szoboszlai winning games single-handedly for Hungary to Darwin Núñez scoring important goals for Uruguay and Luis Díaz for Colombia, it has been a good few days for the Reds.
And it’s not just the attackers. The defenders have also been in good form, Virgil van Dijk’s interventions for the Netherlands were crucial to secure qualification to Euro 2024 for his country. Some of Klopp’s younger players have been doing well at youth international level as well, with Harvey Elliott among those to impress. The Liverpool boss will hope all that good form will be transferred back to club level as well starting with Manchester City next weekend.
