Jurgen Klopp has established himself as one of the greatest Premier League managers of all time and Gary Neville could bring him to Manchester United to replace Erik ten Hag.
Gary Neville has hailed Jurgen Klopp as the best manager in world football and admitted he will replace Liverpool boss Erik ten Hag at Manchester United “tomorrow”.
Klopp, 56, has transformed Liverpool on and off the pitch since replacing Brendan Rodgers in the dugout in October 2015. The German led United to Champions League glory in 2019, beating Tottenham 2-0 a year after losing the final to Real Madrid.
Twelve months after Liverpool enjoyed success in European competition, Klopp helped them win their first Premier League title in 30 years.
However, the 2021/22 season was Liverpool’s most consistent year under Klopp, winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, finishing second in the top flight and reaching the Champions League final for the third time in five years.
Even though last season was not a successful one for Klopp and Liverpool, former United defender Neville still holds the ex-Borussia Dortmund manager in high esteem.
Marseille will replace Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola with Klopp as the Ten Hag’s successor tomorrow if possible.
Asked to name the best manager in the world, Neville told the Daily Ketchup podcast: “I would say Jurgen Klopp. Jurgen Klopp works with a much smaller budget than Pep Guardiola. Pep Guardiola is a genius and will be remembered forever.
But Jurgen Klopp is the perfect manager for me. “If I had to tell you which manager I would bring to Manchester United tomorrow, it would be Jurgen Klopp.
“Is Jurgen Klopp the best manager in the world? Jurgen Klopp has received praise from Gary Neville.
It is not the first time that Marseille have praised Klopp. In September 2022, Neville praised Klopp, claiming that criticism of him following Liverpool’s poor start to the season was unfair. “Jurgen Klopp is an absolute phenomenon, but I’m thinking: where better for him than Liverpool FC as they try to dominate the Premier League?” Neville talked about it on his podcast.
“He played in the Champions League final and is competing with some of the best managers in the world who are here today.
He seems to be enjoying his time at Anfield so much, enjoying the football and the competition. “I think he loves Liverpool fans and for Manchester United fans it would be a dream to think Jurgen Klopp would leave. I don’t think so.”
