Lee Carsley believes Liverpool have their own Cole Palmer.
Former Everton midfielder Lee Carsley has named Liverpool star Curtis Jones as one of the most talented players he has coached, suggesting the Reds have found their own version of Cole Palmer.
Palmer has decided to leave Manchester City this summer and join Chelsea for a fee of £42.5m.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has since enjoyed some great performances and has been included in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI.
Scored 4 goals and provided 4 assists in 11 appearances in all competitions. Curtis Jones, on the other hand, had a very contrasting journey at Liverpool.
The 22-year-old spent eight years at the academy before making his big debut in the 2018/19 season.
Jones struggled to cement a regular place in the starting XI for several years following his injury. He eventually impressed Jurgen Klopp in training and earned a starting spot at the end of last season.
The England Under-21 international has made nine appearances so far this season. Carsley took note and waxed lyrical about Jones (via Liverpool World ).
“He looks a lot like Cole (Palmer). I’m not surprised at all. Curtis will be joining one of the most talented players I have ever worked with. “He has what it takes to be a midfielder,” he said.
He added:”He can run, he’s very fast, he’s strong, he can score, he can assist, he can defend, he can have the ball.
He just needs the opportunity.” When I saw him, his acting was really amazing. “He’s just had to prepare and get on with the consistency of his game, but to see him like that this summer and understand the responsibilities and position of playing for Liverpool is fantastic.
“Jones scored 11 goals and provided 12 assists in 106 appearances in all competitions for the Reds as a senior, winning four trophies.
