Huge boost for Liverpool: Newcastle pull out of talks for €55M gem

 

Earlier this month, Liverpool received a €70 million bid for Teun Koopmeiners.

What was problematic about the publication of the report in early November was that Newcastle United contacted Atalanta after a thorough investigation. “He is highly unlikely to be at St James’ Park this season,” according to a new report from Tutto Juve.

This is good news for Liverpool. Especially since the amount they claim is only 55 million euros.

Juventus and Inter Milan are considering bids for Atalanta, while Newcastle are not considering a return to the table until the “summer of 2024”.

Jurgen Klopp is not interested in signing Koopmeiners in January. That’s because at this stage it’s more important to recruit a defensive midfielder than an attacking midfielder.

The German also does not use attacking midfielders, preferring to leave all the responsibility to the forwards. It’s no surprise given his incredible offensive talent.

Koopmeiners scored 10 goals and 4 assists last season. While this kind of attacking impetus is always welcome at Anfield, the January signings will likely be none other than defensive midfielders.
