Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk says he is back to his former form after suffering a serious knee injury.
The Reds are just one point behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race and are once again looking like serious contenders.
They crashed out of the top four last season and Van Dijk’s form was one of the reasons why they fell behind. The defender has been criticized since returning from a serious knee injury last year, but the Dutchman insists he can’t take everyone seriously and knows he hasn’t played well.
He admitted last season was difficult for both Liverpool and Holland as they struggled for form. However, he has regained his pace at Liverpool and is said to be free from a serious knee injury.
Van Dijk told Allgemeine Dagblad: “I take some criticism very seriously, but not all of it. “I know when I’m playing well and when I’m playing badly.
“Last season was average and sometimes bad. “As a team, we worked hard to find a good rhythm at Liverpool. “The League of Nations didn’t go well with the national team either.
“I’ve thought and talked a lot about changing the tide. “I think I succeeded. The weather has been great since summer.
“I feel like I can do it all over again.” Van Dijk and Holland are scheduled to play on international duty in the European Championship qualifiers against Ireland and Gibraltar.
