Jurgen Klopp hopes to see Divock Origi back at Anfield next Sunday as Liverpool focus on a “difficult” game against Nottingham Forest.
Premier League and Champions League winner Origi won plaudits and cult status at Anfield but parted ways with the Reds in 2022 but returned to the Premier League with a move to Forest last month. A key match between the clubs this weekend will provide an opportunity to see the popular Belgian forward again.
Klopp will be hoping Origi will be involved after receiving a warm welcome from his old club, but emotions will remain muted as the match kicks off against Steve Cooper’s side. Assessing the difficulties facing Forest in his pre-match press conference, the Liverpool manager said: “(They) have improved a lot.
“They always say that in Germany the second year is more difficult than the first. I can never be 100% sure, but in my second year it didn’t happen that often either, so I’m not sure. Steve does a very good job. [They] changed a lot again and a lot of players participated.”I hope Divock Origi starts for an event rather than a match.
I hope it’s valid so people can at least say a little hello. It was definitely worth it. Besides, I don’t want to have a good game. It’s understandable, but at least you have a chance!“And there are so many options, so many to choose from.
It’s a very large team and difficult to manage well, but he does it without fuss. I haven’t heard from anyone there so it works great. “I think Nottingham definitely want to stay in the league and get out of there. That’s what they do now. They took a point in a very tough Premier League.”We know what to expect.
It will be a proper review [today], but I know it will be very difficult. I remember last year we lost, especially away from home. It was a very tough day for us, but it was all down to Nottingham. I think we were the better team that day, but it didn’t show on the scoreboard because we stayed in the game and that was our biggest effort.“No matter what happens, they will stay in the game, score and punish when they can. “It’s definitely going to be a tough challenge, so we’ve got to make sure we’re ready.
Klopp was asked if the Thursday-Sunday schedule for this season’s competition would help his entire squad get game time.”Yes, we can do that now,” he replied. “Thursday-Sunday isn’t perfect, but it’s something we’ve known for a long time and it’s a good thing.“Yeah, there’s no real training here.
It’s good because those who didn’t play [Thursday] will have a good session [Friday]. So he continues his training. But if we always play against the same teams we have played before in the Champions League, there is no training at all, it is just recovery and recovery.”We’ve managed to do that so far.
And we haven’t had too many injuries, so there have always been too many, but now everything is good and we hope it stays the same so we can do that. “It’s good for them because it means a lot of the players who didn’t play [against Toulouse] will start on Sunday.
If you like [Thursday night] we had an ‘off day’ and warmed up, hit a few balls and now [Friday] it’s a good session and we’re getting ready to go to Nottingham. “Yes, that’s the pace of the year. You’ll have to get used to it sooner or later.
It’s been good so far, but the Premier League season with European football and all the cup competitions is a busy season. I never had any problems like this and it was great.”But it requires some recovery time. Just that and we’ll be good to go again
