Ibrahima Konate And Darwin Nunez To Start; Cody Gakpo On The Bench: Liverpool’s Predicted XI To Face United

 

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp knows the Reds are favorites to beat Manchester United this weekend.

Poor results and a long injury list have seen Erik Ten Hag’s side miss out on Anfield, with Klopp speaking of underestimating their opponents. But this is a game Reds must win, especially at home, if they are to be considered serious title contenders this season.

Starting XI star Alisson Becker is back in goal after impressing on his return from injury in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. He made two excellent saves and helped his team earn three vital points.

The back four could include Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kostas Tsimikas in the two wing positions, with Ibrahima Konate and captain Virgil van Dijk as the two central defenders.

In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister’s knee injury created a selection dilemma for Klopp. Wataru Endo struggled with Palace but the Japan international will get another chance from Klopp on Sunday night.

Dominik Szoboszlai is expected to play as one of two No.8s, with Curtis Jones likely ahead of Ryan Gravenbirch, who struggled in Liverpool’s last outing at Selhurst Park.

Mo Salah and Luis Diaz are expected to play on both flanks, but it is yet to be decided who will take charge.

Cody Gakpo was very poor against Union Saint-Guilloise on Thursday, which allowed Darwin Nunes to take over.
