INJURY SCARE FOR DUKE: Cooper Flagg Exits Game After Awkward Landing, Blue Devils’ Hopes Hang in Balance

 

Greensboro, NC – The Duke Blue Devils’ ACC Tournament hopes were dealt a significant blow when star player Cooper Flagg exited the game against Georgia Tech after an awkward landing. Flagg, a national Player of the Year candidate, was helped off the court and taken to the locker room for evaluation.

*THE INCIDENT*

The injury occurred with 5:12 remaining in the first half, when Flagg landed awkwardly after attempting a layup. He immediately clutched his knee and was unable to put weight on it. The Duke training staff rushed onto the court to attend to Flagg, and he was eventually helped off the court.

The severity of Flagg’s injury is currently unknown, but the initial signs are not encouraging. Duke coach Jon Scheyer said in a halftime interview that Flagg would undergo further evaluation, but he was unsure of the extent of the injury.
