Liverpool will be looking to add to their squad this summer as they prepare for another refresh
Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves believes Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson would represent an effective piece of transfer business by Liverpool this summer.
Robinson has been a mainstay in the Cottagers’ defence since signing for the London club in 2020 and has performed strongly throughout this period.
The 26-year-old has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool, among other clubs as a result of his displays, though the ECHO previously reported in December the American was not someone on the Reds’ radar.
Whether or not this changes in the coming weeks remains to be seen, though other clubs are likely to move for Robinson regardless of what Liverpool choose to do.
Explaining why the Reds should be in the conversation for the full-back, Hargreaves told Premier League Productions: “To get a full-back that can cover that much distance is tough. He is almost covering the whole left-hand side on his own.
“But if you can get these numbers, if you can get six assists by March, then you put yourself in an elite category. He is performing at an elite level. He is always fit and always plays. I think getting assists, he will be absolutely delighted with the numbers.
“I think he could (play for one of the top four in the country). I think he has the capacity and capability. He is still relatively a young player. If he is adding those types of numbers in a team that isn’t the most attacking, then it makes you think he could step up one more level. He is in a good place at Fulham right now, performing very well.”
Robinson is under contract until 2028, having signed a long-term extension at Fulham only last year. Liverpool currently have Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson operating in this area of the pitch and have Owen Beck to return from his loan spell at Dundee FC.
