Earlier this summer, Jurgen Klopp’s side embarked on a rebuilding mission following the departures of the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. They have identified Andre as a midfield target after signing Alexis McAllister and Dominic Soboslay for £95m.But Fluminense said last August that they did not want to let the 22-year-old leave. They did not want to entertain the departure of their star until the end of the Copa Libertadores campaign.

As a result, Liverpool reduced their interest in the Brazilian and signed Wataru Endo from Stuttgart for £16m. They later brought in Ryan Gravenberg from Bayern Munich for £34m. Ahead of Fluminense’s Copa Libertadores final against Boca Juniors on November 4, Andre revealed Liverpool’s interest in him. Echo:”It was an offer I couldn’t refuse from a big league club.

I think every player dreams of playing in a big league or a big club in Europe.” “But when the transfer window closed in January, Diniz came and said he wanted me here before the end of the year, so I decided to keep my promise.”Andre, who is reluctant to leave the Brazilian team, also said:”I had no idea we were going to get an offer for that amount of money and I told him we would be there until the end of the season no matter what. It was a very difficult decision.

“If I had accepted the offer, I don’t know if I would have felt 100% comfortable because I would have reached an agreement with Diniz.”Andre said he looks forward to future opportunities.”I don’t know what will happen at the end of the year, but a lot can happen. I’m sure that coming here has helped me a lot as a person and in my career.

As Diniz said, if we make the right choices, are honest and act honestly, good things will always happen.”Andre Diniz, whose current contract expires in December 2026, has made 160 appearances in all competitions. He scored four goals and made three assists.
