It’s ridiculous’… Ian Wright can’t believe what’s happened to 25-year-old

Ian Wright has shared what he found ridiculous after the free-kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold which led to Liverpool taking the lead against Fulham on Sunday.

Wright was speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show after the Reds produced a stunning turnaround to win 4-3 at Anfield at the weekend.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was the man to send the ground into a frenzy late on. It was his strike which decided the game in the final minutes. But of course, many would have thought that that would be his second goal of the afternoon.

Ian Wright says Trent Alexander-Arnold having goal taken off him was ridiculous
Liverpool’s opening goal came from his free-kick. It was a stunning strike from the right-back. However, the decision was subsequently made to put the strike down as a Bernd Leno own goal.

It is fair to say that Ian Wright was not impressed with the decision to take the goal away from Alexander-Arnold.

“How can they not give that first one to Trent, they’re saying that this is an own goal? Look at that. It’s ridiculous not giving him that goal. I don’t know if that’s coming out if it doesn’t hit his head,” he told The Kelly and Wrighty Show.

Few better on the ball than Liverpool star
Questions remain over Alexander-Arnold’s defensive capabilities. But there is absolutely no question over his quality on the ball.

Paul Merson recently said that Alexander-Arnold is the best passer in the Premier League. And he has now come up with some big goals against the likes of Manchester City and Fulham.

In fact, he has now been directly involved in 94 goals in 290 games for the club in all competitions (Transfermarkt). That would be an impressive return for a winger, let alone someone who has spent the majority of their career to date in the back four.

Liverpool need to find a way to improve defensively with Alexander-Arnold in the team. It would have been alarming to concede three goals against Fulham.

But they certainly have the ability to outscore anyone. None of their forward line found the back of the net against Marco Silva’s men.

Wright certainly believes that Alexander-Arnold should have had a brace.
