Manchester City pair Jack Grealish and Rodri have issued a warning to Premier League title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola’s side resume their bid to become the first club to win four successive Premier League titles on Sunday afternoon, as current league leaders Arsenal visit the Etihad Stadium in a crunch clash.
Just one point currently separates Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, with the Sky Blues also still competing in the UEFA Champions League and Emirates FA Cup ahead of the final two months of the campaign.
Manchester City face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals next month, but will be firmly focussed on three upcoming quick-fire Premier League games against Arsenal, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.
The Sky Blues are unbeaten in all competitions since early December, meanwhile Arsenal have won every Premier League game so far this calendar year, including sweeping victories over Liverpool, Newcastle, Burnley and Sheffield United.
City have been forced to settle for recent 1-1 draws against both Chelsea and Liverpool, but did secure an impressive 3-1 comeback win over Manchester United earlier this month.
Guardiola’s side are ultimately positioned to potentially retain last season’s historic treble, something both Jack Grealish and Rodri have issued a warning about.
Speaking with the club website, Grealish said: “Us as a team and as a club, we are just taking it one game at a time at the moment. I know that is what everyone says, but we genuinely are.
“It was the same last year. We weren’t really looking at it thinking ‘can we go and do the Treble?’ It was more like let’s take it one game at a time in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League finals at the end. We’re just taking each game as it comes.
“We certainly have the talent, the desire and the team to go and do it. We have the best manager in the world. Fingers crossed we can have a successful last few months of the season.”
Rodri echoed Grealish’s mentality, as the Spaniard bids to extend his 62-match winning streak this weekend: “The target for us is to put ourselves into a position where we can fight until the end, and this is something we have been working on and to arrive in this moment.
“Now is the moment that we have to do the last push. The goal is to fight for everything. To do that we’ll need our people with us: we’re very strong at home with our fans. We need to feel that heat that they bring.
“Our objective is basically this: if we were able to show that we could win everything we won last season, then why can’t we do it again? Of course, it’s incredibly hard to do, the world of football if very difficult, but we’ll take it step by step.
“The most important thing is that we’ve reached this part of the season still in every competition, which is exactly the position we wanted to be in.”
