Jamie Carragher makes admission about Liverpool, it’s a worry concerned

The Anfield side are second in the Premier League and remain a point behind Arsenal after they drew 1-1 on Saturday night. Gabriel Magalhaes put the Gunners ahead after four minutes, but Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah denied them just before the half-hour mark. So both teams stayed at Anfield with wins. This means Arsenal will head into Christmas in first place, one point behind second-placed Liverpool. While Jurgen Klopp’s side now look to be in contention for the title, the Reds have problems with their squad and Carragher highlighted a problem after the draw with the Gunners.

This mainly includes the team’s top three positions: Salah, Darwin Nunes, Diaz and Gakpo. combination. Salah, of course, was part of the lethal trio alongside Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino that have been terrorizing defenses in the Premier League and Europe for years. However, Mane left for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022 and Firmino left after his Liverpool contract expired earlier this year.

Carragher told the Gary Neville podcast that there is something wrong with the Anfield striker at the moment. He singled out Gakpo and Diaz as players who need improvement. Otherwise, Liverpool will have to consider reinforcements next summer. He said: “If you look at Liverpool’s front three, there is something wrong. Gakpo has been here for almost 12 months and has had some flashes but not enough. Diaz looks like a shadow of his former self after suffering a knee injury last season. “I think Diaz needs to have a good second half of the season, otherwise Liverpool will be looking to sign a left-back in the summer.” When Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino left, they didn’t seem to ‘replace with quality’.

Carragher continued: “I know Darwin Núñez has started on the bench and he’s not doing well in terms of scoring. But Núñez should be the first name on the team sheet. He also made headlines by scoring a goal in the Carabao Cup win over West Ham in midweek. Even if things don’t go well, there’s a sense that someone might run away or get shot. Somewhere, he could have done something. “I think we still justify it, but Liverpool still have a front three. Salah is No. 1, Núñez is No. 2 and who is No. 3?”
